How to clean the sand in your aquarium. We use two different methods. A siphon and a basic tube. Good water flow is important, unlike with gravel the debris sits on the top of the sand. If you have a good water flow the filter will take care of most of the debris. There may be some dead spots in your tank that will need to be cleaned more regularly. We clean our sand about twice a month. One week we will use the siphon and the next we will spot clean with the tube.
