When Microsoft came out with the when IE9 was in CTP, I compared it with FF 3.6 and Chrome 9, and it really wasn't even close. I figured FF 4 and Chrome 10 would make better use of the GPU when they were released. So now that all three of the major browsers have finally been released, I decided to run the test again. I ran these all separately, making sure that all instances of the other browsers were closed. I maximized the browser window and ran the test drive with 1000 fish.

But that's what WebGL is, it's native OpenGL in the browser, exposed to JS through a shim. The browser isn't doing anything, just passing along the calls to OpenGL. So it's not a test of the browser's graphics and layout engine capabilities like the IE fish tank demo, it's just an OpenGL tech demo written in JS.
