One of the two main restaurants, The Boarding House, a luncheon eatery, is run by four Issaquah women. None had ever been in business before Mohl recruited them. The other main restaurant, Original Ellen's, is run by Mohl's daughter, Ellen and her partner, Stephen Paul.

We were directed by locals to go to The Boarding House on our visit to Issaquah. We were so glad we did. The restaurant is located in Gilman Shopping area, about 2 minutes from downtown. It was a lovely restaurant, old time feel with nice tables for outdoor seating. Our salad and sandwich was quite good and service was friendly. There are several restaurants and great shops and we were glad we stopped in Issaquah on our way to airport.

Very charming & homey. The Boarding House, in Gilman Village in Issaquah, is at the top of my list for a great lunch. Everything is homemade with delicious soups, excellent sandwiches and generous salads. The homemade desserts are the best. Great value for the money and the setting in an old house, with mismatched antique tables and chairs, makes one feel as if they are eating in Gramma's old kitchen.
